Rivendell Cottage

Rivendell Cottage
Heritage cottage.

Rivendell Cottage is a heritage timber slab hut (c.1850s) on a 110 acre alpaca farm on the banks of the Wollondilly River at Brayton.

Rivendell Cottage is one of the few remaining settler's homes of its type - unique in being the substantial home of one of the earliest pioneer farming families of the Argyle County.

The freshly painted rustic exterior conceals an interior true to its origins, with the added benefit of all modern conveviences sympathetically included.

Your perfect country getaway.

Inside, the original timber walls and ceiling, and the polished but well worn timber flooring provide a special ambience to the modern guests' facilities.

Set in 4 acres of gardens, and about 50 metres from the main homestead, the cottage offers privacy and seclusion, with all the amenities of a memorable country getaway or holiday.

Rivendell Cottage has three main rooms, with separate kitchen and bathroom, wide country verandahs, and a small private yard - perfect for young children to play in.

Ideal for families or groups of up to 6.

The living room has two divans - which also convert to single beds. A modern bathroom with shower and toilet hides behind one wall..

The central room has a sofa lounge (which also converts to a double bed), dining table and chairs, and a slow combustion wood stove to curl up in front of on cool evenings.

There is separate bedroom with queen sized bed decorated in sunny colours.

Fully self-contained.

A galley kitchen leads off the central room and has a toaster, kettle, microwave, fridge, small electric stove, and all crockery and utensils.

TV, CD player, books and magazines complete the indoor entertainment facilities.

Rivendell Cottage is the perfect private getaway for a couple - or for a family - or a group of up to 6.

Perfect for relaxing and entertaining.

The charm of the cottage is matched only by the beauty of its surroundings, where both nature, and the thoughtfulness of your hosts combine to make Rivendell a special experience.

The shady verandah has table and chairs where you can look over green fields down towards the old shearing shed.

The private yard has a sand pit for the little kids, trike to play on, and no less than three BBQs - one gas, one wood, and a special tub for toasting marshmallows over on crisp nights!

Swimming, trout fishing and bushwalking.

Nearby is a solar heated swimming pool, and around the gardens are sculptures, flower beds, and shady trees to rest under.

Just a short walk away is the Wollondilly River where you can swim, watch the platypus play, or fish for trout (we even supply the fishing rod)

Rivendell is bounded by hills covered in natural bushland.

friendly farm

Friendly farm animals.

It even has its own 20 acres of native scribblybark gum forest on the property with kangaroos, wombats, and a myriad of native birdlife - just perfect for bushwalking and relaxation.

Children are also particularly entranced by the farmyard animals: friendly dogs, a house cow, ducks, geese, chickens, and alpacas.

Whatever getaway you are seeking, Rivendell Cottage - with its green fields, lakes, dams, river and forests - will delight you. (Friendly pets allowed!)
